The call is out for stallholders, sports organisations, businesses and fitness professionals to showcase their products and services at this year’s Burdekin Queensland Week Family Fun and Fitness Expo.
Burdekin Shire Council Economic and Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said the Expo would be held on Sunday, June 1 at ANZAC Park, Ayr.
“This year we are combining a family fun day with our fitness expo so there will be something for everyone to enjoy on the day,” he said.
“We will have market stalls, a car display from the Burdekin Cruisers Car Club and Captain Active will be there with activities for the children.
“This event is also a great way for sporting groups, gyms and businesses to give demonstrations or get information to residents wanting to lead a healthy lifestyle.
“We really want this Expo to be a fun, but active day, for the whole family.”
Mr Vaccaro said the Burdekin Queensland Week Family Fun and Fitness Expo was aimed at increasing participation in sport and recreational activities, promoting healthy eating and promoting a healthy lifestyle within the shire.
“We’re looking for groups to provide experiences for people who would be interested in group fitness, yoga, nutrition, alternative therapies, health tests, massage, physiotherapy, chiropractic, team sports and fitness fashion,” he said.
“The Burdekin Be Active Committee would love all local health, fitness, nutrition and wellbeing groups, organisations, businesses and individual professionals to get involved in showing residents of the Burdekin how to achieve a healthy lifestyle.”
Anyone wanting to take part in the Expo should contact Council’s economic and community development office on 4783 9831.
The Queensland Government provided $5500 to the Burdekin Shire Council for the Queensland Week activities.
