Celebrate all creatures great and small at Burdekin Pet Day Out

The Burdekin Pet Day Out will celebrate all creatures great and small this Sunday from 9am at Plantation Park, Ayr.

Burdekin Shire Council Health and Environment Manager Beth Whitworth said it was hoped residents would bring their registered dogs and cats as well as other pets along to the event.

“This event is really to celebrate our pets and we would love to see a wide variety of animals displayed,” she said.

“It’s also a chance for people to have their pet microchipped for only $25.

“It won’t just be fun for pets though as there will be plenty of activities for the family to participate in.

“We will be hosting a Dog Parade which will leave Plantation Park, go up to ANZAC Park and return.

“There will be sausage sizzles from Burdekin PCYC and Townsville Foster and Rehoming, free face painting and a jumping castle for the children and prizes to be won including a year’s free pet registration.

“The Dog Father Dog Training will have three training sessions across the morning.”

Mrs Whitworth said Council also had been running a Funny Pet Picture Competition via its Facebook page.

“We’ve had a great response from local dog and cat owners to this competition and we would love to see pictures of other animals as well,” she said.

Funny Pet Pictures can be uploaded to Council’s Facebook page. Competition closes at 5pm, Friday, June 20. Winners will be announced at the Burdekin Pet Day Out.

Burdekin Pet Day Out will be held at Plantation Park, Ayr from 9am until midday on Sunday, June 22.
