The call is out for committee members to put their hands up for the Burdekin Be Active Committee.
Burdekin Be Active Advisory Committee chairman Tony Vaccaro said the group was seeking new members to help get our community active.
“This committee, in partnership with Council and other stakeholders, helps identify and maximise opportunities for physical activity and other wellbeing programs for our Shire,” he said.
“To do this we need members of our community to step up, join the committee and help get our community moving.
“We would love to see some new faces join us this year and welcome any new ideas on how to get Burdekin residents active.”
Burdekin Be Active played an integral part in getting the Burdekin Be Active Trail built and organises the annual 10,000 Steps Challenge and the Active Parks Program.
Mr Vaccaro said the BBA team also helped stakeholders by offering in-kind support, providing venues, assisting with promotion and other activities such as supporting the training of Tai Chi instructors for example.
“The BBA is planning a Health, Fitness and Wellbeing Expo this year to enable and encourage active and healthy lifestyles for our community and we would welcome input from the community for the Expo,” he said.
The Burdekin Be Active Advisory Committee meets on the first Wednesday of every month.
