Time is running out for Burdekin residents to win $100 by taking part in the Council’s Corporate Plan Community Survey.
Residents have until Wednesday (August 13) to take part in the survey, either by filling in an online form or a hard copy. The winner will be announced on Thursday and will have the choice of $100 off their rates or a $100 voucher from a local business.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Bill Lowis urged residents to take the time and have their say on the future of the Burdekin Shire.
“This is your chance to have your say on the direction you want Council to take into the future,” he said.
“The new Corporate Plan will directly influence Council activities and strategies from 2015-2020, so it is important that we know what services and facilities this community thinks are important and how happy they are with those services.”
Cr Lowis said independent facilitator, Peter Mellor of PM Consulting, would use the survey results to formulate a number of group workshops with community members.
“These workshops will include invited members of the community as well as any other residents interested in taking part,” he said.
Workshop facilitator Mr Mellor said he was looking forward to assisting the Burdekin Shire Council team in the development of the Corporate Plan.
“Burdekin Shire Council wants to provide the best practice in local government service delivery to its residents,” he said.
“The survey answers provided by the community and the ensuing workshops will help Council achieve that aim.”
Mr Mellor said he was familiar with the Burdekin region due to past involvement with Department of State Development delivering services supporting small business, industry, regional development and community based groups.
The survey is available on Council’s website, Council’s social media pages or a hardcopy can be collected from the Council Chambers and both branches of the Burdekin Library.
