Burdekin Library Ayr official relaunch this Thursday

All the work is done and now it’s time to officially celebrate the new-look Burdekin Library Ayr.

Library Services Manager John Scott said the official launch would kick off from 11am on Thursday, January 22.

“We would love to see our supporters and current library members come along on Thursday and join the celebrations,” he said.

“There will be a number of dignitaries attending the launch including the State Librarian and retiring State Member for Burdekin Rosemary Menkens.

“Our new library card and logo also will be officially unveiled and to thank our members we will be giving away new library bags to the first 200 who re-register or join our library.

“All our library card holders will receive a new card, so make sure you come in get yours.

“There also will be a free morning tea after the official opening.”

Mr Scott said the renovations to the library had taken a number of years to complete.

“The end has been a long time coming, but we are very pleased with the result and our residents are the ones who will reap the benefits from the improved services and facilities,” he said.

Mr Scott said there was also entertainment for Burdekin children in the last week of school holidays.

“We’re having a Special Guest Storytime with Tania Cox, The Dame and others reading for the children on Friday,” he said.

“This will be followed by crafts, free face painting and drum fun.”

The Burdekin Library Ayr Official launch is on Thursday, January 22 from 11am.
