The new Giru Skate Park in Brolga Park was completed at the weekend and is open for holiday fun.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Bill Lowis said Urban Play Pty Ltd had delivered and constructed the skate park equipment at the site last week.
“Their team was on site from Thursday through to Saturday erecting the equipment,” he said.
“I went up on Monday to check it out and it was great to see the local children already making good use of it.”
Cr Lowis said the skate park was of a similar design to the one in Home Hill.
“The skate park in Home Hill has proved very popular with the youth,” he said.
“I hope the youth of Giru enjoy theirs as much.”
Council is building the skate park in partnership with Wilmar Sugar and the Giru Progress Association.
The new skate park is positioned between the BBQ shelter and swing set on the western side of Brolga Park.
