Giru youth will soon have the chance to hone their skateboard and scooter skills with the construction of a skate park in Brolga Park.
Mayor Bill Lowis said Council would build the skate park in partnership with Wilmar Sugar and the Giru Progress Association.
“The Giru Progress Association is contributing $35,000 toward this project and Wilmar Sugar has offered to construct the cement slab for the skate park,” he said.
“Council will cover the rest of the project costs.
“The skate park will be similar to the one in Home Hill and will be positioned in between the BBQ shelter and swing set on the western side of the park.
“It is away from roads and traffic to ensure the safety of children.”
Cr Lowis said the work on the skate park would be completed by the end of June.
