The Home Hill Waster Transfer Station office was broken into last night causing damage to the door and window.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Bill Lowis said police were investigating the incident.
“Someone has gone to a lot of trouble to break into the office, but nothing appears to have been taken,” he said.
“You have to wonder what they thought they were going to find in there as there is never any money kept there.”
Cr Lowis said the damage caused to the office might cost Council thousands to repair.
“This sort of behaviour is reprehensible and is just another cost burden on the ratepayers of the Burdekin,” he said.
