Excitement is building as local acts sign up for this year’s Burdekin Fasttrack Talent Showcase to be held at the Burdekin Theatre next weekend.
Burdekin Shire Council Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said there had been more than 30 acts sign up for the event so far, but nominations were still open.
“We’ve had a great response from our talented locals and others from around the region, such as Townsville and Collinsville, so I expect the event will be a huge success and I would urge anyone with the dream of becoming a star to sign up for this once in a lifetime opportunity,” he said.
“Residents should also get in early to secure their tickets for what will be a fantastic night of entertainment, not only from local performers, but also from Trent Bell, who is a solo artist and former member of the boy group The Collective which was formed during the fourth season of The X Factor and Frank Dixon, a former Australian Under 18 Songwriter of the Year.
“This event is an excellent way for young performers to receive professional advice and who knows, they could be the next star of The X Factor.”
The event, which is being hosted by the Burdekin Shire Youth Council, will be held at the Burdekin Theatre on Saturday, November 14, 2015. There will be a workshop for participants in the morning, heats during the afternoon and a Finals Performance that evening, along with the guest performance by Trent Bell.
Burdekin Shire Youth Mayor Cassandra Loizou said she was “super excited” for Fasttrack.
“I can’t believe it’s here already,” she said.
“I’m excited to meet Trent Bell as I can remember him performing on television.
“This is going to be a great event and I’m keen to see the turn out.”
Tickets can be purchased from the Burdekin Shire Council or www.burdekintheatre.com.au. General admission tickets to the all the heats are $10 and $20 for the Final Talent Showcase.
