Be Mozzie Aware this Summer!

Council would like to remind residents to be mozzie aware this summer!  As the weather warms up the mozzies can be on the move and it’s a good time to remind yourself of the steps you can take to protect you and your family. Mosquitos can carry nasty diseases such as Ross River Virus, Dengue Fever and Zika Virus.  The best way to avoid these nasties is to avoid being bitten and reduce the number of potential breeding sites in your area.

What you can do:

  • Reduce breeding sites by emptying out water containers
  • Wear a good mozzie repellent when spending time outdoors
  • Wear light coloured long sleeved shirts and long pants
  • Check your screens and stay indoors during peak mozzie periods (early morning and early evening)
  • Use mosquito zappers or coils
