Burdekin Library to launch movie streaming service

Burdekin Shire Mayor Lyn McLaughlin will launch a new movie streaming service at the Burdekin Library Ayr at 10am next Wednesday (November 2).

Council’s Library Services Manager John Scott said the recent activation of the National Broadband Network had allowed the Library to offer this new service.

“Beamafilm is a streaming channel for true stories and independent voices with a carefully curated collection of more than 300 award-winning documentaries, independent features and festival favourites,” he said.

“This is just the beginning of digital services the Burdekin Library will be able to offer thanks to our NBN service.

“The Mayor will launch Beamafilm and another digital service that will support the Ideas@108 robotics and coding and showcase the full range of online services the Library offers.

“Everyone is welcome to come along to learn about the new services and enjoy a cuppa after the event.

“To help celebrate the launch of Beamafilm we will give away a Google Chromecast on the day to those attending as a lucky door prize.”

Next Wednesday also heralds the final Tech Talk with John as Mr Scott is leaving the Burdekin Shire Council team on November 8 to take up a position with Mackay Regional Council.

The last Tech Talk with John will focus on cyber safety and other interesting technology topics. Tech Talks with John will run from 2-4pm at Ideas@108. Bookings are essential and can be made by calling 4783 9970.
