Burdekin Shire Council will host a public forum to give local landholders an opportunity to discuss recent land valuations with representatives from Department of Natural Resources and Mining (DNRM).
Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said there had been some confusion and concern regarding land valuations issued by the Valuer-General in March and this public forum would help to clear up any misconceptions regarding the valuation processes and outcomes.
“This forum will allow DNRM representatives to present landholders an overview of the valuation process and the difference between site and unimproved valuations,” she said.
“They will also address the recent decrease in valuations specifically with regards to sugar cane properties.
“This is the perfect opportunity for landholders to have all their questions answered by the department that makes the decisions.
“I would encourage all interested residents, farmers and stakeholder groups to attend.”
The Public Forum will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 5.30pm at the Burdekin Theatre.
