Burdekin Shire Council’s website is getting made over at the weekend to make it more mobile friendly.
Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said the update was a result of statistics showing more people would soon be accessing Council’s website from mobile devices than the traditional PC.
“Council’s Information Technology team have re-designed the site to ensure it not only looks good, but works equally well on large PC screens and the smaller mobile device screens,” she said.
“Menu buttons will provide easy touch screen navigation and residents will be able to sign up to receive the latest Council news and information delivered to their email inbox.
“The IT team is also planning a new Community News feature and an improved events calendar.
“Residents will be able to rate each page of the new website to help our team ensure people can find things easily and we welcome community input.
“To get these changes done the website will be inaccessible from 11pm Saturday 11 June through until 5am Sunday 12 June.”
Some of the improved website features include:
- professional banner pictures to highlight the Burdekin
- mega menus for large screens
- dropdown and picture menu buttons for mobile devices
- clearer design format
- new improved “What’s happening” and “I want to” dropdowns
- simplified footer banner
