Council’s Water team begins reading the Shire’s water meters this week in the Home Hill, Brandon and Parkside areas.
Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said the bi-annual water supply meter readings would provide Council with information for the half-year water levy.
“Meter readers will need access to the water meters at all residences and it would help if residents could clear any plants or obstruction away from the meters, isolate or restrain dogs and ensure any gates are unlocked,” she said.
“If residents need to make specific arrangements to allow access, give Council’s Customer Service Centre a call on 4783 9800.”
Cr McLaughlin said Council had changed the issue date of the water levy this year from December to January.
“Council usually issues the water levy in early December and has a due date in mid-January, but this year we will push the issue date back to January 2017 with a due date in February,” she said.
“This was done to avoid impacting on residents over the Christmas period.”
Council water meter readers will cover the rest of Ayr and Mt Kelly in the next two weeks and the outskirts of Ayr and Giru in the following week, weather permitting. It is estimated the readings will be completed by mid to late November.
