Burdekin Shire Council will be undertaking planned upgrade and maintenance works on a major water main in South Ayr as part of ongoing strategies to reduce incidents of dirty water in areas of Ayr, Brandon and Rossiters Hill as follows:
- Monday 27th June, 2016 – Install a scour injection and extraction point on the major trunk water main from the South Ayr Water Treatment Plant to Railway Street.
- Tuesday 28th June, 2016 – Planned scouring of the major trunk water main.
- Wednesday 29th June, 2016 – Scouring of the 375mm trunk water main in Railway Street from Burke Street to MacMillan Street, Ayr.
These works require the South Ayr Water Treatment Plant to be isolated from Monday the 27th to Wednesday the 29th June, 2016 with the Ayr and Brandon townships relying on bores at Nelsons Lagoon to maintain water supply services to the communities.
Residents are requested to limit water usage to essential purposes to ensure normal supply can be maintained without loss.
Residents of Ayr and Brandon may experience a reduction in normal pressure and water discolouration during these planned works. It is advisable to delay washing of clothes etc., for up to two days after work is completed, if possible.
Council regrets any inconvenience that may be caused to residents as a result of these necessary maintenance works. For further information or queries, please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on (07) 4783 9800 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
