Santa Claus is coming to town! Burdekin Shire Council will host Santa at the Burdekin Community Christmas Carols at Home Hill’s Watson’s Green on Sunday December 11 from 6pm.
Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said planning for the community event was well under way.
“We have a great line up of entertainment for our residents this year, including the Burdekin Brass Band, KH Dance, Fire Flyz, lantern parade and a variety of carols performers,” she said.
“Children’s author, Ian McIntosh, will be our emcee for the night and our Council elves have organised Santa to pay us a visit.
“This is a great community tradition and I hope to see lots of families come along to join the Christmas celebrations.”
Cr McLaughlin said local talent would lead residents in singing the carols.
“This year we have Jasmin Delle Baite, Sophie Ricca, Amaia Licciardello, Megan Morris, Alasdair MacEachern and junior and senior choirs,” she said.
“The School Chaplains and Father Ian Ness will also be part of the night.”
The Mayor said the lantern parade would be a highlight.
“It’s lovely to see the children parade the lanterns they have made,” she said.
“The Burdekin Library Ayr is holding lantern making workshops on Thursday, December 8 and Saturday, December 10 from 9.30am as part of the school holiday activities.
“The workshops are free and the children can show off their creations at the Community Christmas Carols.”
The Burdekin Community Christmas Carols will be held at Watson’s Green, Home Hill, on Sunday, December 11 from 6pm.
