Burdekin Shire helps educators and carers foster healthy kids

The Burdekin is one of 12 Queensland regions hosting Healthy Kids Professional Development sessions for workers in the early childhood education and care sector.

The Burdekin Shire Council’s Library team has been working closely with the Centre for Children’s Health and Wellbeing to offer these educational sessions.

Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said the project aimed to bring together local early childhood education and care educators and other key partners.

“The free face-to face sessions will help foster good health and wellbeing of pre-school age children,” he said.

“Those involved will also help develop, implement and evaluate a free early childhood health and wellbeing professional development strategy for this sector in our region.

“The first of these quarterly professional development events will be held in March.”

If you are in the early childhood education and care sector and would like more information about, or register for, the sessions please contact the Burdekin Library on 4783 9970.
