‘Funny dunny’ upgrade works begin

Burdekin Shire Council is upgrading the toilet facility at Wunjunga’s Funny Dunny Park – but the popular dunny is set to retain its ‘funny’ charm.

Site works have commenced today to upgrade the ageing toilet structure and will continue for about two weeks – with the new structure designed to keep in style with the original facility.

Funny Dunny Park was named after the ‘funny’ toilet in the park, which was one of the first environmental toilets in the Shire.

This project has been made possible thanks to funding from the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program.

A portable toilet facility will be available to park users for the duration of the works.
