Stage set for a curtain-raising November at Burdekin Theatre

Burdekin Theatre will be in full swing this November as the curtain rises on a bumper program of shows and events.

Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said taking centre stage would be a diverse range of entertaining musical and dance performances from visiting and local artists. “From the Acoustic Guitar Spectacular 2017 Qld Tour – featuring the incredible talents of renowned international and Australian guitarists – to the free Christmas-themed Morning Melodies event Sentimental Journey, there will be something for everyone to enjoy this November,” Cr McLaughlin said.

On Sunday 5 November audiences are invited to Delta Music’s Believe in Music, featuring local young and upcoming musicians. From smooth jazz sounds and captivating classical pieces to music from the movies and new rock artists, a diverse range of musicians are set to display their talents in this unique showcase.

Council is once again holding a free Christmas themed Morning Melodies event, bringing Sentimental Journey with Vov Dylan and Glenn Amer to the stage on Friday 10 November. “This wonderful event is free but tickets must be secured so get in now to avoid disappointment,” Cr McLaughlin said.

Winner of the international 2016 Guitar Masters fingerstyle competition, East Frisian guitarist Soenke Meinen will team up with Australian guitar talents Michael Fix and Bruce Mathiske on Friday 17 November when the Acoustic Guitar Spectacular 2017 Qld Tour arrives in the Burdekin.

The following weekend, on Friday November 24 and Saturday November 25, Old Skool Flava will showcase students from Rhythm Edge Dance Studio in their annual dance production.

“The Burdekin Theatre is one of finest theatres of its kind in regional Australia and as a result we are fortunate to attract and develop so many fantastic shows. It is a wonderful asset for our community,” Cr McLaughlin said.

“In addition, there will be some amazing local talent on display during the month of November. I congratulate all of the performers involved in these local productions for their hard work and dedication over the year.”
