September School Holiday Programme Announced

September school holidays are just around the corner and Burdekin Shire Council has revealed an exciting line up of fun, free events to keep kids entertained.

Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said across the two week break, events had been planned at both the Burdekin and Home Hill Branch libraries.

“Our libraries will be a hub of activity these school holidays with lots of arts, craft and even movie screenings,” Cr McLaughlin said.

All the usual favourites will be available, including the return of Maker Space at the Burdekin Library.

“These self-guided sessions run from 9am-5pm on Tuesday 25 and Thursday 27 September, giving kids plenty of time to complete their creations,” Cr McLaughlin said.

Kid’s minds will continue to be kept active during a wire craft session, where they can either follow the templates provided or make their very own custom design.

Crafts will also be offer at the Home Hill Branch Library. Create your own twirling twigs mobile on Wednesday 3 October and take part in scratch board art activities on Friday 5 October.

Those looking for something a little more relaxing can kick back during one of two movie sessions at Burdekin Library’s Ideas@108.

“All activities are free and suitable for children aged zero to 12 years,” Cr McLaughlin said.

“I encourage local families to check out the full program and book early to avoid missing out on the fun.”

Bookings for all events excluding Maker Space sessions are essential and places are limited. Phone Burdekin Library on (07) 4783 9970 to register your spot.

Adult supervision is required during Maker Space sessions.
