Burdekin businesses and organisations will have the opportunity to take part in Experience Development and Storytelling Workshops this March 27-28. The workshops will be conducted by EarthCheck, a team of leading professionals who work with operators in the tourism industry all over the world.
The workshops will be hosted by Burdekin Shire Council in partnership with external tourism organisations and will be held 2pm to 5pm Tuesday 27 March and 8am to 11am Wednesday 27 March.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said tourism was a key driver for job creation and economic growth as part of the economic diversification of the Shire.
“Local businesses can play an active role in growing the lucrative visitor market in our Shire,” Cr McLaughlin said.
“What persuades visitors to holiday in a particular destination is that destination’s ability to engage visitors in an unforgettable and inspiring experience.
“Each attendee will gain important insights into hero experiences in the Burdekin and North Queensland region – and learn more about the value of experience development and storytelling and the benefits of incorporating these into business, products, services and activities.
“The workshops will cover marketing concepts and give participants the opportunity to develop an action plan, for which there will be ongoing support until June 2018.”
The cost of the workshops will be $200 per business, with a $150 Council rebate available to participating businesses who achieve the targets in their action plan by 30 June 2018.
The workshops are made possible through external funding and subsequently the number of businesses/organisations available to participate is limited to 10.
Interested businesses and organisations are required to complete an Expression of Interest form by close of business on Monday 19 March. To obtain an Expression of Interest form please contact Lucy Poppi on (07) 4783 9807 or email.
