Library Lovers’ Day, 14 February 2019, is an opportunity for libraries and library users to celebrate all the ways that love can be found in the library. Organised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), this annual event involves hundreds of libraries and thousands of library users.
This year, ALIA is running a 200-word flash fiction story competition. The story can be about anything it just has to use the writing prompt ‘there was love to be found in the library’.
Submissions should be sent through in a word or basic text document in a standard font and size and are open to everyone. Submissions are due by 5:00pm AEDT on 21 February 2019.
Please email entries toor post to 9-11 Napier Close Deakin 2600.
There are also some fun activities in the Burdekin Library
Share the love
Recommend a book you have “fallen in love with” to other library members – and check out what other members have enjoyed.
Love a book
We have a display of books that haven’t left our fiction shelves for some time. Please show them some love by borrowing them! You might fall in love with a new author.
Match the quote
We have a fun quiz where you can match a “love” quote with where it comes from- movies, books, songs – or just a person who was good with words!
Share a story
ALIA has provided the templates for shadow puppets and you can use our puppet theatre to make up your own “love” story.
