The Burdekin Shire Council has a number of venues available for hire, including:
- The Ayr Showgrounds, the Burdekin Theatre and the Burdekin Memorial Hall which are facilities owned and managed by the Burdekin Shire Council; and
- Four pools, located in Ayr, Home Hill, Clare and Millaroo. The operation of the Ayr and Home Hill pools is contracted out. The Clare and Millaroo pools have Council staff to monitor and clean the facilities.
Booking a Venue
Council Venues are available for regular or casual hire by community groups, government and non-government organisations, businesses, and individuals.

To arrange bookings of any of our pools please contact the pool manager for Ayr Pool on (07) 4783 2969, the pool manager for Home Hill Pool on (07) 4782 2498 or speak to the committee member for the Clare or Millaroo pools.
Booking Fees and Charges
All venue and pool bookings attract various fees and charges.
You will be advised in writing when your booking is approved. No booking is confirmed until you receive and sign the agreement and pay the required hire fee and/or damage deposit.
The Ayr Showgrounds

The Ayr Showgrounds including the main ring is available for hire for exhibitions, funfairs, showgrounds, horse events, rodeos and circus type events.
The annual Burdekin Show is held here in June each year. The event includes free family entertainment, rides, show-bags, food stalls, equestrian program, fireworks, exhibits and retail displays.
The Ayr Showgrounds Hall has a capacity of approximately 200 patrons seated with tables. A commercial kitchen and bar permits on-site catering. A PA system is also available for hire.
Burdekin Memorial Hall

The versatility of the Burdekin Memorial Hall makes it a popular venue for major balls, fashion shows, cabarets, dance nights, school formals, weddings and meetings.
The Main Hall is completely air-conditioned and can seat up to 500 people at tables or 700 people in theatre style. The hall boasts a stage which is suitable for bands, concerts and other live performances, while a catwalk is available for fashion shows. The stage is equipped with a front-of-house stage curtain and limited stage lighting and sound systems which can be operated by highly skilled technical staff. Behind the stage are modern dressing rooms. The state-of-the-art kitchen and bar is also available to clients.
The Minor Hall is ideal for smaller functions and meetings for up to 120 people concert seated concert style or up to 80 seated at tables.
The Meeting Room is ideal for meetings for up to 25 people, and is self-contained with its own kitchenette and bathroom.

The Burdekin Theatre is the home of arts and entertainment in the Burdekin Region playing host to a diverse range of live performances, conferences, meetings, seminars, exhibitions and many local events. The Burdekin Theatre can provide specialist light and sound requirements to make your event stand out.
The venue features an impressive 473 seat auditorium with proscenium arch, fly tower and orchestra pit, supported by professional technical staff and state of the art facilities. The Theatre is wheelchair friendly, accessibly by lift in the Theatre Foyer or by Door C on the ground level.
Burdekin Theatre Foyer
The Burdekin Theatre Foyer is a versatile space suitable for smaller intimate performances or cabaret style seating for up to 140. It is the perfect venue for entertaining, intimate performances, weddings, corporate functions and meetings as well as an exhibition space. The Foyer has full wheel chair access and is accessible via the venue’s main entrance. A range of equipment can be hired for use in the venue such as projection and presentation equipment.

The adjacent Music Loft is a small multi purpose venue located on the Mezzanine level of the Burdekin Theatre Complex. The Music Loft caters is the perfect venue for entertaining, exhibitions, workshops, meeting and functions. The Burdekin Music Loft can be accessed via the foyer lift if required. A range of equipment can be hired for use in the venue such as projection and presentation equipment.
The Music Loft has full wheel chair access and is accessible via the venue’s Foyer using the lift or stairs and via an external staircase at the side of the Complex. There is also wheelchair ramp access to the venue from the Loft’s Balcony.
- Standing cocktail functions: 100 with use of the Loft Balcony
- Theatre style seating (with room for a presentation/performance area): 60
- Cabaret style seating: 80
- Conference seating (horseshoe style): 40
The forecourt with its beautiful Living Lagoon water feature can accommodate up to 800 people for any outdoor event. This includes an impressive all weather covered stage.
Kitchen and Licensed Bar
The venue has a commercial kitchen available for hire and is complimented by our own in house licenced bar.
