General Details

Council’s Design Office, under the general supervision of  the Design Office Manager, undertakes design in civil construction and transport infrastructure encompassing such areas as roads, drainage, boat ramps, aerodromes, cycle/pedestrian pathways and bus shelters. The section also investigates complaints and problems associated with Council’s Roads and Drainage network.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Maintenance of Council’s flood warning network
  • Water and Waste Water Technical Services
  • To provide technical assistance and guidance to the operational and trade waste sections
  • To provide survey and design services for capital and operational projects within the Department
  • To monitor customer service standards and Council’s compliance with such standards in accordance with the Total Management Plan
  • To develop and monitor cost effective maintenance processes and documentation for all water supply and sewerage assets
  • To develop and implement a focussed infiltration inflow reduction program for Council’s sewerage system
  • Implementation and monitoring of Drinking Water Quality Management Plan
  • Assist Manager Water and Waste Water with implementation and ongoing development of the goals, objectives and management strategies of the Total Management Plan
  • Monitor meter fleet and maintain meter replacement program to provide the highest accuracy possible with council’s current capacity
  • Examine IDAS applications in relation to Water and Waste Water infrastructure
  • Property searches with emphasis on water, sewerage and trade waste
  • Applications to erect structures over sewers
  • Special Water Meter Readings
