Beach Scrub Conversation

Volunteers are required to help protect endangered Beach Scrub vegetation sites in and surrounding Ayr by controlling weeds and removing marine debris from sites.  You will learn on-ground environmental skills and gain experience in conservation work.

  • Date:  Monday 20 May to Wednesday 22 May 2019
  • Time:  7:00am – 1:00pm
  • Venue:  Various locations in Ayr

The Beach Scrub Project aims to promote conservation of beach scrub semi-evergreen vine thickets, an endangered ecosystem that’s crucial for reducing erosion and preserving strong ecological diversity.

Volunteers will be involved in liberating native vine thickets from encroaching weeds and removing marine debris from adjoining beach area.  This is a great opportunity to gain skills in plat identification, weed control and photo monitoring while also getting to experience some beautiful natural places.
