Cathy Hunt from iPad Art Room, Brisbane will be visiting the Burdekin in April 2018 to conduct four FREE workshops for Burdekin residents.

Primary & Secondary Teachers Professional Development Workshop

Saturday 21st April, 9am – 3pm

Mixing and Making with Paint and Pixels: Learning with iPads in Visual Art

iPads are powerful tools but do you know how to integrate digital tasks and mix paint and pixels in your classroom?  Join Cathy Hunt in this exciting workshop to find out how you can use iPads for teaching and learning in Visual Arts. Yes, you can draw and paint digitally, but that’s just the beginning.  This workshop will introduce you to workflows that bring your ideas to life in ways you never imagined. Create artistic movies using still images, pencil portraits using typed words and paintings using your photographs. Intrigued?

Learn how to leverage the digital devices your connected students already use and make links to their creativity with engaging tasks for 21st Century learning. This workshop is hands-on and interactive, full of powerful lesson seeds, apps lists, and it’s built on a practical pedagogical framework for digital devices in the classroom you can take away. Beginner user? No problem!

Course Overview:

  • Find out how to enhance student creativity, divergent thinking and improve visual literacy
  • Learn how integrate digital tasks and mix paint and pixels in your classroom for mixed media work with a difference
  • Explore effective strategies for creating transformational learning experiences
  • Understanding the value of content creation and strategies to encourage students to become ‘creators’
  • Develop skills in instructional design using iPads & personal/mobile BYOD for teaching and learning
  • Exploit technology to increase engagement, risk-taking and creative confidence
  • Explore digital folios, a connected classroom and new media

You will need to bring:                                                                                                               

Please bring an iPad and make sure you have completed any software updates (it should be running with the latest operating system downloaded). You will be provided with an apps list about a week before the event via email. This is a hands-on course, so you will need these apps to be able to participate in the session. You must download these prior to our time together. While most of these apps are free, you will need to allow about $15.00 for some of the apps that are integral for your participation in the course.

Morning Tea will be provided.  BYO lunch and water bottle.

Stop Motion for Children

Super Stop Motion Movie Making

Did you love the Lego Movie? Have you seen awesome stop-motion clips on YouTube?  Well, you can create stop motion animation yourself with an iPad or iPhone. Its easy and so much fun.

You will need to bring:

You will be asked to download a free app upon arrival, so please have your Apple ID ready. This is a hands-on course, so you will need this apps to be able to participate in the session.

Mobile photography skills session

Mobile photography techniques and tools

You can take quick snapshots with your iPhone…but how do you go further? Let’s explore a bunch of techniques for creating interesting compositions, effects and artworks with mobile photography. You’ll walk away with a whole set of exciting apps to explore and a new perspective on the huge range of possibilities. 

Suitable for beginners 12+ 

You will need to bring:

This is a hands-on course, so you will need this apps to be able to participate in the session. While most of these apps are free, you may want allow about $10.00 for some optional apps that we will explore in the course.

Drawing and painting on iPads for beginners

Discover How To Draw and Paint on Your iPad

Digital art-making is a wonderful way to explore drawing and painting.  With a tool kit of exciting apps and a variety of techniques on iPad, you’ll be creating masterpieces in no time. See how artists like David Hockney create large scale digital paintings, learn how to take photographs and turn them into layered drawings and have fun in this informal, relaxed hands-on session.
