Economic Advisory Group established by Council
The Burdekin Economic Advisory Group was formally established and expressions of interest opened at Burdekin Shire Council’s ordinary Council meeting this morning.
The Burdekin Economic Advisory Group was formally established and expressions of interest opened at Burdekin Shire Council’s ordinary Council meeting this morning (Tuesday 28 July 2020).
Formation of the group expands on the existing Burdekin Economic Focus Group, established during consultation for the recently-adopted Burdekin Economic Development Strategy.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said formalisation of the Economic Advisory Group would enable local business and industry to collaborate with Council on economic development matters in the future.
“The Burdekin Economic Advisory Group is a fantastic chance for Council to engage more significantly not just with businesses but with industry allowing for the advancement of programs and initiatives driving economic growth in the Shire,” Cr McLaughlin said.
“Benefits of the group are expected to include increased employment opportunities, new industry developments, growth and retention of existing businesses, attraction of new residents, increased visitor activity in the Shire, and more.
“If business owners or residents are interested in finding out more about the Burdekin Economic Advisory Group or would like to express interest in joining, I encourage them to get in touch with Council’s Economic Development Officer.”
Expressions of interest are now open for the Burdekin Economic Advisory Group in the downloads section here and will close on Friday 14 August. For more information, call 4783 9800.
