The owner of any lost cat or dog that is displayed on the Lost and Found page of the Council web site will have three working days to collect their animals.
After the third day the animal will be available for rehoming. Anyone interested in rehoming an animal are to register their interest with Council before the end of the third working day.
If the animal is fit for rehoming, a fee to cover the cost of registration and microchipping must be paid to the Burdekin Shire Council prior to release and arrangements made for the animal to be desexed. You will need to pay the desexing costs at your preferred veterinarian and provide evidence of payment prior to release.

Council works with several rehoming groups to try and rehome animals that come through the Council pound.
Council works with Burdekin Pet Rescue, working dog rescue and groups that focus on specific breeds.
