As part of the Burdekin River Bridge Rehabilitation project, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) wishes to advise of single lane closures on the Burdekin River Bridge, Home Hill on the following dates (weather permitting):

Monday 21 May 2018 to Friday 25 May 2018

9.30am to 2.45pm (please note start and finish times)

During this time, speed and width restrictions will be in place and the site will be under traffic control.  North and southbound road users should expect minor delays.

To minimise disruptions, heavy vehicles operators with loads three (3) metres wide or greater must contact Michael Brennan on 0409 643 768 to advise of an anticipated time of arrival to allow for road barriers and other infrastructure to be cleared.  Failure to give advance warning will result in further delays.

Brown Road – Works Update

Burdekin Shire Council wishes to advise that Brown Road is scheduled to be open to all motorists by 4.00pm Thursday 14th June 2018, weather permitting.

Burdekin Shire Council wishes to advise that major drainage works will be completed on Brown Road on Tuesday 15th May 2018.

Road reconstruction works have commenced and a first coat bitumen seal is scheduled for Thursday 14th June 2018.

Brown Road will remain closed to all traffic during the construction period with a temporary detour via Shepherd Road.

Brown Road is scheduled to be open to all motorists by 4.00pm Thursday 14th June 2018, weather permitting.

Pioneer Mill Road – Drainage Works

Burdekin Shire Council advises that drainage works will be commencing on Pioneer Mill Road at approximately 350m from the Bruce Highway intersection. The works are scheduled to commence on Wednesday 2nd May 2018 and are expected to be completed by Friday 25th May 2018, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Pioneer Mill Road will remain open during these works but will be subject to changed traffic conditions, including lane closures and reduced speed limits to enable works to be undertaken safely and efficiently.

Motorists are asked to obey all directional signs and any instructions from traffic controllers or on-site personnel for their own safety and the safety of Council’s workforce.

Burdekin Shire Council advises that road reconstruction and drainage works will be recommencing on Brown Road from the Telstra exchange building for the extent of 1km towards Pelican Road. The works have recently experienced delays due to weather and will recommence on Monday 9th April 2018 and are expected to be completed in June 2018, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Burdekin Shire Council advises that footpath construction works will be undertaken in Seventh Avenue from Sixteenth Street to Eighteenth Street intersections. The works are scheduled to commence on Tuesday 13th March 2018 and are expected to be completed in May 2018, weather and construction conditions permitting.

All construction works will occur Monday to Saturday between 7.00am and 6.00pm.

Seventh Avenue will remain open during these works but will be subject to changed traffic conditions, including lane closures and reduced speed limits to enable work to be undertaken safely and efficiently. At times Sixteenth Street, Seventeenth Street and Eighteenth Street will be subject to road closures.
