Clear Out Old Farm Chemicals Safely – ChemClear is Coming to Queensland
Farmers and agricultural businesses across Queensland are being urged to register their unwanted chemicals for safe disposal, with ChemClear’s upcoming collection event now open for registrations.
ChemClear, a national stewardship program run by Agsafe, provides a safe, responsible, and convenient way to dispose of unwanted or obsolete agricultural and veterinary (AgVet) chemicals. The upcoming Queensland collection is a vital opportunity for producers to clear out chemicals that may pose safety, environmental, or compliance risks.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort encouraged locals to take advantage of the initiative.
“Programs like ChemClear make it easier for our farming community to manage chemical waste responsibly,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“By registering before the deadline, you’re protecting your farm, your family, and our local environment.”

Please note: Household or domestic chemicals are not accepted through the ChemClear program.
Group 1 vs Group 2 Chemicals
Group 1 chemicals are eligible for free disposal if they meet criteria (e.g., registered with drumMUSTER, intact labels, within two years of expiry).
Group 2 chemicals include unlabelled, expired, or unknown substances. A disposal fee applies, with quotes provided upon registration.
Over 98% of collected chemicals are repurposed as an alternative fuel source, with the remainder treated through specialised technologies or secured in landfill.
Storing old or unknown chemicals increases the risk of environmental contamination and workplace injury. ChemClear makes disposal simple, safe, and sustainable. Don’t delay and register your chemicals today.

ChemClear is an end-of-life product stewardship program fostered by Agsafe for the safe disposal of agvet chemicals.
The environmentally-friendly program, which supports the safe disposal of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, travels throughout Australia collecting unwanted products from farmers who no longer need them.
Farmers end up with leftover product they cannot reuse and ChemClear works with the State Government to help farmers fund collections of unlabelled, unregistered or unknown chemicals.
Chemicals become unwanted in a number of ways. Property owners may inherit chemicals when they buy land, others switch crops, while some buy specific-use chemicals to manage one-off pest events.
Registered users will be contacted with dates and locations for local collections in shire council jurisdictions.
