Council's Environmental Health section oversees the licencing and/or approval of businesses for public health and safety

Public Health

Includes the investigation and management of public health and local law issues, such as mosquitoes, overgrown allotments, abandoned vehicles and rats and mice

Environmental Matters

Investigation of environmental matters, including environmental nuisances such as noise, dust, odour, light and smoke and water polution

Food Safety

Council is responsible for assisting food businesses to comply with the Food Act to ensure safe food is provided to the public

Land and Pest Management

The management of pest plants and animals that threaten our environment and waterways

Environmental Levy

The Environmental Levy provides funding to the community for a number of environmental projects that benefit the Burdekin

Reef Guardian Council

Burdekin Shire Council is a Reef Guardian Council working towards protecting the Great Barrier Reef
