Images of the Burdekin

The Burdekin Library has a large collection of historical images of the region recorded in the library catalogue. Some images are available to view online through the library catalogue. All are available to view in person at the Burdekin Library.

How to Find and View Local History Images

  1. Search the catalogue
    Enter keywords related to the image you’re looking for, for example: Burdekin Bridge, Brandon Post Office, or floods.

  2. Filter your results (optional but recommended)
    When the search results appear, filter them to show only local history images:

    • On desktop: use the left-hand menu
    • On mobile: tap Filter
      Select Local History Images under the Local Library Collection heading.

  3. Select an image
    Click on the image you want to view from the filtered results.

  4. Open the full-size image

    • Click on the image again to open it
    • In the pop-up window, select Open Original to view the image at full size

 

If you have any images or photographs that you think are important to the history of the Burdekin region, please bring them in for us to scan and include in our collection. Your photographs will be returned to you after we have scanned them, which won’t take long!
