Biosecurity Plan Review – Have Your Say
Published on 26 February 2026
Burdekin Shire Council is currently reviewing its Biosecurity Plan to ensure it reflects local needs and emerging challenges. As part of this process, community consultation will be held, and Council warmly encourages landholders and residents to get involved.
Updating the plan is an important step in keeping our region productive, safe and resilient. By taking part, landholders can:
- Share local knowledge about weeds, pests and on-ground challenges.
- Highlight opportunities for support, training or improved communication.
- Help shape practical, workable actions that suit local conditions.
- Strengthen collaboration between neighbours, industry and Council.
During the consultation sessions, Council will outline the proposed updates and discuss topics such as pest management priorities, responsibilities under the Biosecurity Act, and opportunities for coordinated action across the Shire. Community feedback will directly guide the final plan.
Council looks forward to hearing your ideas and working together to build a strong, locally informed Biosecurity Plan.
Dates and locations for consultation will be announced shortly. For more information, or to register your interest, please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on 07 4783 9800.
