Easter School Holiday Fun at Burdekin Libraries
Published on 05 March 2026
Burdekin Shire Council is inviting families to enjoy a fun‑filled Easter school holiday program at Ayr and Home Hill Libraries, with a wide range of free activities running from Tuesday 7 April to Saturday 18 April.
The program features creative workshops, STEM activities, movies, gaming, gardening sessions and a special Easter Scavenger Hunt, offering something for children of all ages.
Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said the holiday program was designed to encourage learning, creativity and community connection during the Easter break.
“Our libraries are wonderful community spaces, and this Easter holiday program gives local children the opportunity to learn new skills, express themselves creatively and simply have fun in a safe and welcoming environment,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“From art activities delivered in partnership with QAGOMA to hands‑on STEM and 3D printing workshops, there’s a great mix of educational and recreational activities for families across the Burdekin.”
Highlights of the program include the all‑day Easter Scavenger Hunt at both Ayr and Home Hill Libraries, where children can follow clues through the library to earn a special Easter treat, as well as a series of ‘Express Yourself’ art workshops presented by the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA).
Younger children can enjoy Mini STEM and Grow Time sessions as part of the First 5 Forever program, while older children can take part in activities such as Mario Party, Library Legends Reading Club, and a Tiny Toys 3D Printing Workshop.
Free Movie Time sessions will also be held at Ayr Library during the holidays, giving families the chance to relax and enjoy movies together.
Families are encouraged to plan ahead, noting that bookings are essential for some sessions.
Full program details, booking information and terms and conditions are available by visiting Ayr or Home Hill Library or by scanning the QR codes included in the Easter Holidays booklet.
