As 2025 draws to a close, Burdekin Shire Council reflects on a year of significant achievements and milestones that have strengthened our community and laid the foundation for an even brighter future.

This year, Council delivered key projects that enhance liveability, sustainability, and economic growth across the Shire. From infrastructure upgrades and improved community facilities to initiatives supporting local businesses and environmental stewardship, 2025 has been a year of progress and collaboration.

Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said Council is proud of the progress made throughout 2025.

“This year has been about working together to achieve outcomes that make a real difference for our community. We’ve invested in infrastructure, supported local businesses, and delivered projects that improve the quality of life for residents across the Burdekin.

“Importantly, we secured vital funding from State and Federal programs to make these projects possible, ensuring our region continues to grow and thrive.

“As we look forward to 2026, we remain committed to building a prosperous, safe, and vibrant Burdekin for everyone.

“I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the community for their generosity during the annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal, helping bring joy to families in need during the festive season. Your support truly makes a difference.”

Burdekin Shire Council Chambers will close at 1:00pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025 and reopen at 8:00am on Monday 5 January 2026.

During this time, a skeleton crew will be available for essential services, and residents can still contact Council on (07) 4783 9800 for all services and emergency calls, including animal control, water and sewerage emergencies.

As we head into the holiday period, we remind everyone to stay safe on the roads, look out for one another, and enjoy a happy and healthy festive season.

From all of us at Burdekin Shire Council, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to working together in 2026 to achieve even greater things.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
