Burdekin Shire Council congratulates local horticulture growers, the Pirrone Brothers, on their partnership with Reef Distillers to create an innovative Zucchini Flower vodka, a first for the region and a testament to Burdekin’s reputation as one of Queensland’s leading horticulture areas.
This collaboration highlights the Burdekin’s diverse agricultural base and demonstrates how local growers are adding value beyond traditional farming.
The new Zucchini Flower vodka showcases the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of the Pirrone family, who have been farming in the Burdekin since 1947.
Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort met with Josh and Chris Pirrone ahead of the launch, commending their innovative approach.
“This initiative showcases the creativity of the next generation of growers,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“It’s a clear example of Burdekin producers embracing innovation and unlocking new opportunities.
“Collaborations like this demonstrate the entrepreneurial drive that fuels regional growth and reinforces the Burdekin’s position as a leader in agricultural innovation.”
Council actively supports initiatives that allow local growers to showcase the region’s unique character through creative and value-added projects.
The Burdekin’s strong horticulture base provides opportunities for partnerships that foster innovation and economic resilience.
