Council is seeking applications for Casual Compliance Officers to join our Environment and Health Services Team. The Compliance Officer will be required mainly for weekends, public holidays and during Council closures.
Council’s intention is to develop a pool of Casual Compliance Officers so roster sharing can be one weekend each month.
Some of the key tasks to be undertaken in this position will be:
- Undertake after hour’s response, during the week, on weekends and public holidays for priority animal management matters such as dog attacks and stock on road.
- Collect animals surrendered to Council between the hours 6am to 7pm including weekends and public holidays. (Subject to change following trial closure of drop off cages).
- Assist with managing the operation of Council’s Animal Pound including checking and cleaning the pound once a day on weekends and public holidays when an animal is kept at the pound on these days.
- Undertake occasional other duties such as patrols on weekends to assist with ongoing issues.
- Compile notes on job attendance and provide to the Compliance Supervisor.
For this role we are especially interested in hearing from individuals with:
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic experience in handling animals including dogs and cats.
- Sound customer service skills with the ability to work in high conflict area.
- Basic understanding, or the ability to acquire an understanding of relevant laws relating to animal management.
- Possession of a current Queensland “C” class driver’s licence.

The hourly rate is in accordance with the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award - Level 3 $41.66 inclusive of the applicable casual loading.
