Burdekin Shire Council is proud to announce the return of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal for 2025, following the overwhelming support and generosity shown by the community during last year’s inaugural initiative.

Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said she was deeply moved by the response in 2024 and is excited to continue the appeal this year.

“Last year’s appeal was a heartwarming demonstration of the Burdekin community’s compassion and generosity,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.

“I’m thrilled to announce that the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal will continue in 2025, giving us another opportunity to support families who may be doing it tough this festive season.”

“The spirit of Christmas is about sharing, caring and coming together. Every donation, no matter how big or small, can help bring joy to someone’s life and remind us of the strength of our community.”

All donations will go directly to those in need through Burdekin Community Association.

Residents are especially encouraged to donate non-perishable food items, as these are the most vital contributions and have the greatest impact in supporting families in need during the festive season.

Donations can be dropped off at the Ayr and Home Hill Libraries and the Burdekin Shire Council Chambers by 3:00pm Friday, 12 December 2025.

For those who prefer to make a donation of Cash or gift card, another worthy community organisation, the Burdekin Neighbourhood Centre, will be accepting these contributions directly.
