Round 4 Now Open for Woody Weed Control Program
Published on 27 May 2025
Burdekin Shire Council is calling on landholders to take advantage of the final round (Round 4) of its Woody Weed Control Program, with nominations now open for eligible properties.
The program, which aims to assist in the control of moderate to large woody weed infestations, offers Council support covering 70% of contractor costs, helping landholders reduce the impact of invasive vegetation on their properties.
Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort encouraged eligible landholders to act quickly to secure assistance.
“This is the final opportunity for landholders to take part in the Woody Weed Program, which has proven to be a highly effective and well-supported initiative across the region,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“Council is proud to offer financial support and practical assistance to help manage woody weed infestations that impact productivity and environmental health.”
To apply, landholders must complete the Entry to Land Agreement and return it to Council via email at enquiries@burdekin.qld.gov.au or in person at Council Chambers, 145 Young Street, Ayr. Forms are available by contacting Council’s Pest Management team on 4783 9800.
Places are limited and will be filled on a first-in, first-served basis, with nominations closing on Friday 13 June 2025.
