Ayr Industrial Estate Expansion Complete, Unlocking New Opportunities
Published on 03 September 2026
Burdekin Shire Council is proud to announce the completion of the Ayr Industrial Estate Expansion, marking a major milestone in the region’s economic development and delivering new opportunities for business growth, investment and job creation.
The project has transformed land adjacent to the existing industrial estate into a fully serviced industrial precinct, creating 19 new industrial lots in stage 1. The development includes new roads, drainage, water, sewerage and underground power infrastructure to support future industrial growth in the Burdekin.
Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said the completion of the project was the result of Council’s long-term vision to ensure the region has the infrastructure and land supply needed to support future economic growth.
“This is one of the most significant economic development projects delivered by Council in recent years and represents an investment in the future of the Burdekin,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“The hard work is done. The infrastructure is in place, the land is ready, and now we’re inviting businesses and investors to be part of the next chapter of the Burdekin’s growth story.
“Whether you’re looking to establish a new operation, relocate, or expand an existing business, there has never been a better time to invest in the Burdekin.”
The expanded precinct has been designed to accommodate a diverse range of industries and provide opportunities for existing businesses to expand while attracting new enterprises to the region. Previous planning identified the project as having the potential to generate hundreds of jobs during construction and through ongoing industrial development.
The expansion complements the existing Ayr Industrial Estate and provides additional capacity to support the region’s diverse agricultural, manufacturing, transport and service industries into the future.
