Burdekin LDMG moves to Alert status
Published on 20 February 2026
The Burdekin Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has today moved to Alert status following its meeting this afternoon, as a precautionary measure to ensure the community is prepared and informed.
LDMG Chair Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said the decision reflects the Group’s commitment to monitoring conditions and maintaining a high level of readiness across the Burdekin.
“Moving to Alert allows us to closely monitor the situation, coordinate with our partner agencies and ensure the community has the latest, accurate information,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“While there is no immediate cause for alarm, it is important that residents stay informed, review their household plans and be prepared should conditions change.”
The LDMG will continue to liaise with emergency services and relevant agencies and will meet as required to assess conditions and coordinate local arrangements.
Residents are encouraged to stay up to date through official channels, including Council communications and disaster information services, and to follow advice from emergency authorities.
Further updates will be provided as required.
