Community Groups Encouraged to Apply for Council Grants
Published on 01 April 2026
Burdekin Shire Council is encouraging local community groups, sporting clubs and not‑for‑profit organisations to apply for funding through the next round of Council’s Community Grants Program, with applications now open.
The Community Grants Program provides up to $3,000 (excluding GST) in cash or in‑kind support to eligible organisations delivering projects, activities or events that benefit the Burdekin community.
Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said the program plays an important role in supporting grassroots initiatives that strengthen community connection.
“Our community and sporting groups make an enormous contribution to the social fabric of the Burdekin, often with limited resources,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“In previous rounds, Council has supported a wide range of community and sporting organisations across the Burdekin, including local events, festivals and grassroots programs.”
Funding is available for a wide range of initiatives, including community events, local festivals, new or expanded programs, and projects that enhance liveability, civic pride and social participation across the Shire.
Applications for Round 4 of the 2025-26 financial year are open from 1 April to 14 April 2026, with applications assessed by Council’s Community Grant Assessment Panel.
Eligible organisations are encouraged to review the program guidelines carefully and clearly outline the community benefits of their proposed project.
Applications and full details are available on Council’s website at www.burdekin.qld.gov.au/Community-grants-program.
