Expression of Interest – Plantation Park Market Operator
Published on 02 March 2026
The Plantation Park Markets are a well‑established community event, offering a vibrant, welcoming space for residents, visitors, and local stallholders. Two markets are held each month under the Plantation Park Markets banner:
- Ayr State Primary School Markets – First Sunday of each month
- Plantation Park Markets (formerly operated by the Burdekin Sub Branch of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia) – Third Sunday of each month
The Burdekin Sub Branch of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia decided to conclude its long-standing role as market operator at the end of 2025.
Burdekin Shire Council is committed to ensuring the continuation of this valued community tradition and is seeking a new operator to commence in 2026. We invite Expressions of Interest from local community organisations interested in taking on the role of Market Operator for the Plantation Park Markets in Ayr on the third Sunday of each month.
Role of the Market Operator
The successful organisation will be responsible for:
- Coordinating stallholder bookings and enquiries
- Promoting the markets within the community
- Managing market‑day operations
- Supporting the continued development and sustainability of the event
- Reporting any health and safety risks relating to Plantation Park (e.g. slips, trips or falls) to Burdekin Shire Council
How to Apply
EOI documents and submission forms are available from Burdekin Shire Council. Submissions close on Monday 9th March 2026.
