Michael Detenon

Biography

Councillor Michael Detenon is currently serving his second term as a Councillor for Burdekin Shire Council, having first been elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024. He is well-recognised in the community as a local business owner and a passionate fisherman.

Michael has a strong interest in fishing, outdoor recreation, and all forms of sport. He is deeply committed to the economic development of the region and is a strong advocate for promoting Burdekin tourism. His community involvement includes being an active member of the Burdekin Fish Restocking Society and previously serving as Vice-President of the Ayr Chamber of Commerce.

Michael is dedicated to helping the Burdekin Shire grow and thrive. He brings a practical approach to Council and values the opportunity to represent the interests of both rural and township communities, with an open mind. 

Born and raised in Ayr, now resides in Giru with his wife, and young son.
