Biography
Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort is a proud, born-and-raised Burdekin resident and business owner, currently serving her first term as Mayor of Burdekin Shire Council. She previously served as a Councillor for twelve years, from 2004 to 2016.
Pierina is a Justice of the Peace (Qualified), having received her accreditation in 1977, and she completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors training in 2017.
She has been a member of the Burdekin Chamber of Commerce since 1982, serving as President from September 1993 to 1999, and as an Executive Member from 2020 to 2022. Pierina also served as Treasurer of the Local Government Women’s Association from January 2014 to September 2022, having been a member since 2009.
Pierina's key interests include community development, youth engagement, business and economic growth, and crime prevention. She is also passionate about addressing housing shortages across the region.
Pierina lives in Ayr with her partner, Trevor.
