The much-anticipated Sweet Days Hot Nights Festival is set to return in 2025, bringing two spectacular headline events to the Burdekin.

The Burdekin Cultural Fair featuring First Fire will kick off the festivities on Friday, 30 May, followed by the Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships on Saturday, 31 May at the Home Hill Showgrounds.

Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said the festival is a celebration of the region’s rich agricultural heritage and vibrant community spirit.

“Sweet Days Hot Nights is a highlight on our local calendar, bringing people together to experience our culture, history, and the energy of the Burdekin,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.

“From the First Fire ceremony to the action-packed cane cutting championships, this festival offers something for everyone.”

Families will be delighted to know that kids under 18 receive free entry all weekend and can enjoy a wide range of exciting activities, including a kids’ craft zone, face painting, a jumping castle, the Gudjuda Rangers’ turtle display, ATV riding, and much more!

Tickets for adults are just $10 per event, or festival-goers can save with the Sweet Weekend Pass for only $15, granting access to both festival days.

Mayor Dalle Cort encourages attendees to pre-purchase their tickets online to avoid queues and enjoy fast-track entry.

“We want everyone to make the most of their festival experience. By securing tickets in advance, guests can take advantage of the express entry lane and get straight into the fun,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
