The Burdekin’s HOTTEST Festival to heat up this weekend!

The Burdekin is set to turn up the heat this weekend as one of the region’s most anticipated event – the Sweet Days Hot Nights Festival – blazes into town with a fiery lineup of entertainment, food, and family fun at the Home Hill Showgrounds.
The festival kicks off on Friday evening with a jam-packed program featuring the breathtaking First Fire of the Season and Cultural Fair. Saturday sees the iconic Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships, Canefield Cook-Off, and a vibrant festival day filled with live music, markets, free kids' activities and more.
Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said the event is a powerful celebration of the Burdekin’s traditions, culture and community spirit.
“Sweet Days Hot Nights is one of our region’s signature events and something we’re incredibly proud of,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.

This year’s highlights include:
- First Fire of the Season – a breathtaking night-time burn that lights up the fields and the sky
- Cultural performances celebrating the region’s diverse heritage
- Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships – a gripping showdown of grit and tradition
- Canefield Cook-Off - a first-of-its-kind smoker showdown where teams fire up the flavours in a sizzling battle
- Live music, food trucks, free kids’ activities and much more
