World-First Macroalgae Facility Opens Doors for Exclusive Public Tours

Burdekin Shire Council and Pacific Bio are excited to announce the Open Day of the world-first RegenAqua Macroalgal Bioremediation Facility on Saturday 21 June 2025.
This advanced facility employs RegenAqua’s Macroalgal Bioremediation Technology, driving sustainable solutions for water purification, carbon capture, and agricultural innovation.
As a leader in algae research, the facility addresses critical environmental challenges and represents a significant step forward in green technology.
Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said the Open Day provides a unique opportunity for the community to experience innovation in action.
“We are proud to offer our community and visitors the chance to witness this groundbreaking technology firsthand and learn how it can benefit agriculture, energy and the environment,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“This is an exciting opportunity to showcase how the Burdekin is leading the way in sustainability, and we are excited to share this innovation with our residents.”
Buses will depart from Burdekin Shire Council Chambers, 145 Young Street, Ayr QLD 4807 and transport attendees to the facility. Public access to the site will be by bus only.
Tickets are free and will be available from Monday 19 May 2025.
