Industry Breakfast to showcase major residential growth opportunities
Published on 14 May 2026
Burdekin Shire Council is encouraging developers, landowners and industry stakeholders to attend the upcoming Burdekin Industry Breakfast, where key regional investment and infrastructure opportunities will be highlighted – including the Residential Activation Fund (RAF) project.
The breakfast will be held on Wednesday 20 May 2026 at the Burdekin Theatre, Ayr, bringing together industry leaders, growers and government representatives to connect businesses with opportunities shaping the region’s future.
A key feature of the morning will be a presentation on Burdekin Shire Council’s application under the Residential Activation Fund (RAF), a $55 million project for the construction of trunk infrastructure to unlock new residential development in the Ayr township.
Director Infrastructure Planning & Environmental Services, James Stewart, will provide an overview of the project, which focuses on enabling development across key areas including Beach Road, Chippendale and Craig Street.
Council has already successfully secured funding in Round 1 to complete detailed design works, with the Round 2 application supporting the next stage of delivery.
Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said the presentation would provide valuable insight for those interested in the region’s growth opportunities.
“The Residential Activation Fund presents a significant opportunity to unlock new housing across the Burdekin and support sustainable growth for our community,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“We strongly encourage developers and landowners to attend this session to better understand the project and how they can be part of the Burdekin’s future development.”
In addition to the RAF presentation, attendees will hear updates on major regional initiatives including the North Queensland Food Futures Precinct Project and the Bowen Pipeline Project.
The breakfast begins at 7:00am, with presentations from 7:30am. Tickets are $15 per person (breakfast included), and registration is essential due to limited availability.
