9–15 November 2026

Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA), in partnership with Burdekin Shire Council and Canegrowers Burdekin, is offering local cane growers a free way to recycle their end-of-life agricultural tyres during National Recycling Week.

What's on offer

Current Canegrowers Burdekin members can drop off up to four (4) agricultural tyres free of charge at eligible Burdekin waste facilities during the amnesty week, 9–15 November 2026. There's no cost to you — TSA covers the collection and recycling.

Your tyres won't go to landfill. They'll be collected and recycled locally by Carroll Engineering, a TSA accredited recycler, and turned into tyre-derived materials, which can be used in applications such as road surfacing and civil construction.

How to take part

  1. Register in advance using the link below. Pre-registration is required — you can't drop off without registering first.
  2. Nominate your waste facility — Kirknie Landfill, Home Hill Transfer Station, or Ayr Transfer Station. Please drop off only at the site you nominate.
  3. Drop off your tyres at your nominated site during the amnesty week.

Registrations close: Wednesday November 4, 5pm.

Eligible sites

  • Kirknie Landfill
  • Ayr Transfer Station
  • Home Hill Transfer Station

Terms and conditions

  • The amnesty is open to current Canegrowers Burdekin members only. You'll need your membership number to register.
  • Up to four agricultural tyres per member may be dropped off free of charge. Any tyres beyond four are not covered and will be charged at the waste facility's standard rates.
  • Tyres must be agricultural tyres from your own property.
  • The amnesty is capped at a total number of tyres across all sites and operates on a first-in, first-served basis. Registering does not guarantee a place; if the cap is reached, registration will close.
  • You must drop off only at the waste facility you nominated when registering. To change your site, contact us before registrations close.
  • TSA, Burdekin Shire Council and Canegrowers Burdekin accept no financial responsibility for tyres falling outside the amnesty, including where the cap or four-tyre limit has been reached.
